About this event

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Music by Stephen Flaherty; Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens; Book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty; Co-Conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Eric Idle. Based on the works of Dr. Seuss.

SEUSSICAL is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

Organized by

is Boston University's premiere undergraduate musical theatre organization, dedicated to bringing quality musical productions and theater-related events to the BU community. Founded in 1994, OB has become a fixture of artistic life on campus, putting on a variety of shows that range from Broadway classics to edgy, new age productions. Additionally, we run Off Broadway, a community service singing group that travels around the greater Boston area spreading joy through the songs of classic broadway shows. In addition to these outstanding student-run performances, OB offers countless opportunities to become involved including open mic nights, theater outings,  and collaborative events with other theater and music groups on campus.
